Jakub Krako

Biography

Jakub Krako was born on 7.7.1990 in Žilina.
At the age of 6, he was diagnosed
with hereditary disease - retinal distrophy.
The disease is caused by death of the cells of the retina. These resultes in loss of peripheral vision.

Later he started to compete in alpine skiing
and he has been very successful.

During Jakub's 12 years career he was nominated
for 3 paralympic games and 5 world championships.

His debut in paralympic games was in 2006 in Torino.

Jakub was the first Slovak who won the most valuable medal for Slovak republic
in paralympic's games.

In the last paralympic games PyeongChang 2018, won in Super G and was three times silver.

Branislav Brozman

Biography

Branislav Brozman was born on 15.4.1996
in Spišská Nová Ves.

He started skiing when he was 3. Three years later he took part in his first ski race.
Since 2013 he has been part of Slovak national ski team.

In september 2016 Jakub asked Branislav
 to became his guide.

Their first season ended beyond expectations.

Branislav's dream was win medal in paralympic games. Together with Jakub was one time gold and three times silver.

Achievements

On his second paralympic games in Vancouver 2010, together with guide Juraj Medera,
he took 3 gold medals in discipline SL, GS, SC and one silver in SG.

In Sochi 2014, with guide Martin Motyka, won gold medal in SG and silver in GS.

In PyeongChang 2018 with guide Branislav Brozman won again gold medal in SG.
In SL, GS, DH won silver medals.

During 12 years of racing in World cup, was 52 times on podium:
14 gold, 17 silver and 21 bronz medals.

Evaluation of the season

Our priority were World championhips in Kranjska gora, Slovenia and Sella Nevea, Italy. We were three times on podium. We could be winners in slalom, but after video analyses we were DSQ.

This season we didn´t start in World cup. We started in Europa cup in Netherand and Croatia. We were participated in Slovak national cup and also in Czech national cup where we were very successfully.

Evaluation of the season

In the season 2017/2018 we had 14 races- 5 times slalom, 5 times giant slalom, 2 times super G and 2 times downhill. Races in St. Moritz, Tignes and two runs in Veysonnaz were cancelled due to a lot of snow.
In the overall World cup classification we ended second with a gap 140 points.

In slalom we were 4 times disqualified, usually because
I took gate between legs and
once Brano missed the last gate.

After 6th, 4th, 3rd and two 2nd places we were second in overall giant slalom classification.

In Cadana we surprised in speed disciplines.
After 6 years I was on podium in downhill.
In super G two times second.

Evaluation of the season

Our first season together was beyond expectations. We had short time for synchornization, but we trained hard and achieved some success.

For our first victory we had to wait until the end
of the season.

However througtout the World Championship I was ill,
the results were good. Because of flu, we did not start in giant slalom and saved som strenght power for slalom where we finished on the third place. In super G we were second.

In PyeongChang are nice ski corses and we won slalom and also giant slalom. We hope, we can repeat results  from World cup finals in Winter paralympic games.
